IDG promotes Ostrow to `InfoWorld' president

International Data Group's InfoWorld named Bob Ostrow president-publisher, a new position. Most recently, Ostrow was publisher of IDG's PC World. Editorial responsibilities will be managed by Kevin McKean, whose title has been changed from CEO-editorial director to chairman-editorial director.

Crain names corporate circulation director, four VPs

Crain Communications Inc., publisher of Media Business, has hired Patrick Sheposh as corporate circulation director. Sheposh joined Crain from J. Walter Thompson Co., where he was senior partner, based in Detroit. Crain also named four new VPs: Joyce McGarvy, VP-distribution; Tomi Hubert, VP-technology services; Dave Kamis, VP-production and manufacturing; and Laura Anger, VP-human resources.

Ziff Davis picks McCabe as `PC Magazine' publisher

Ziff Davis Media announced that Jim McCabe has been named VP-publisher of PC Magazine. McCabe succeeds Tim Castelli, who left the company. In his new role, McCabe will oversee PC Magazine and its related subbrands, ExtremeTech and DigitalLife magazines. McCabe was formerly a VP at Gruner + Jahr USA Publishing, where he oversaw Fast Company and Inc. and their related branded events.

Carroll, Silverman move up at `PC World'

International Data Group's PC World announced Wednesday the promotion of Michael Carroll to VP-publisher of and custom publishing. Wayne Silverman was promoted to VP-publisher of PC World magazine. Previously, both held the title of associate publisher.

CMP's Braue, Friedenberg and Miller get senior VP posts

CMP Media announced that Joseph Braue, Michael Friedenberg and Anne Marie Miller have been promoted to senior VPs. Braue was named senior VP of CMP's integrated marketing solutions business. Friedenberg has been promoted to senior VP-strategic customer development. Miller has been promoted to senior VP-global accounts.
