Novell uses online event to conduct successful sales conference

Published on .

“We did our internal sales conference [virtually] in November, and it was a huge success. A lot of work went into the presentations and keynote address. It was done in an on-demand way so people around the world could access it. In many cases, people would gather in conference rooms with as many as 50 people and go through portions of the kickoff so you almost had the feeling of an in-person event, even though it was done virtually. We did electronic surveys. ... Novell employees rated it very highly, and almost everyone participated. In a normal kick-off, you'd have between 1,000 and 1,500 individuals traveling to a location and participating in an event. Because it was virtual, all 4,000 of our employees got to see all of the content. That was one of the side benefits of this. Everyone got to participate, not just the people in our sales department.” —PHIL JULIANO, VP-global brand management and corporate communications, Novell
