NY Times launches Today's Paper app

New York—The New York Times has debuted a responsive-design application for tablet and desktop devices, called Today's Paper, designed to emulate the print newspaper. Built on the HTML5 platform optimized for use on the mobile and traditional Web, the app features swipe- and scroll-friendly navigation; renders content in either portrait or landscape mode; and allows users to read content offline. The app includes all sections, articles and photos found in the print edition, as well as some video content. Replacing the Times' Web App for iPad, the Today's Paper app is available exclusively to digital subscribers and home-delivery subscribers who have linked their accounts for digital access. “This new reading experience is the next step in our ongoing process to develop new and valuable digital products that offer our subscribers other innovative ways to access our content,” said Denise Warren, exec VP-digital products and services, in a statement.
