Penton kills ‘EE Product News,’ says decision reflects preference for Web-based content

New York—Penton Media on Wednesday announced it will shutter EE Product News. The July issue will be the last for the monthly title, which debuted in 1941 and had a circulation of 96,667.

Penton said it plans to consolidate coverage of the electronics industry within Electronic Design’s print and online products, with the EE Product News editorial staff moving to Electronic Design.

Mark David, current editor in chief of Electronic Design, becomes group editorial director, responsible for new-business development and new media across Penton’s electronic properties, including Auto Electronics, Microwaves & RF, Power Electronics Technology, RF Design, and Defense Electronics.

“These changes, reflecting the market’s preference for Web delivery of product information, will allow us to provide our community with expanded product coverage, through a simplified and streamlined structure,” said Bill Baumann, group publisher, in a news release.

Consolidation is the name of the game for Penton these days. Last week, the company announced it has consolidated all of its list management duties at Walter Karl, an infoUSA company.
