PurchasePro, OfficeDepot to cooperate on marketing

Las, which began three years ago as an Internet purchasing service for Las Vegas casinos, got a big boost Thursday in its bid to provide e-commerce to the business masses. OfficeDepot said it would market PurchasePro--an online catalog of business products and services, and adjoining transaction engine--at retail stores, through its business services division and on its Web site. The two companies will share transaction fees and advertising revenue. In turn, PurchasePro will feature OfficeDepot as a preferred supplier in its online catalog. A national road show, direct mail and print advertising tie-ins are planned to support the relationship. Office Depot has made an equity investment in PurchasePro, including 500,000 shares of its common stock, and options for 600,000 more.
