Hearst Business Media operates more than 20 information services, databases and publications in the automotive, electronics, financial and health care industries. Malloch took over Hearst's trade magazine business in the late 1990s and crafted the group to focus on subscription and licensing revenue rather than ad revenue. The result is a business that generates 80% of its revenue from electronic products and is insulated from dependence on cyclical advertising.
