San Francisco—Customer relationship management company Salesforce.com has entered into an agreement to buy online business content company Jigsaw Data Corp. for $142 million in cash.
Jigsaw’s database of some 21 million business contacts at about 4 million companies has been built by members through the exchange of business information. The company was founded in 2004 and is based in San Mateo, Calif.
Salesforce said it intends to combine its Web-based CRM applications with Jigsaw’s method of acquiring and updating business contacts. Jigsaw also has been active in partnering with other database companies, such as Hoover’s and Harte-Hanks, to enrich each other’s business contacts lists.
