Samsung selects WPP for global marketing

Seoul, South Korea—Samsung Electronics has selected several agencies within the WPP Group to handle global marketing programs including advertising, research and media planning.

WPP’s J. Walter Thompson Co. will provide global management of the Samsung account, led by JWT’s New York office.

Berlin Cameron, another WPP agency, will lead creative development. WPP’s Group M will oversee media planning and buying, and other WPP companies including Research International and Landor Associates will provide research and other support services to the account.

WPP's agencies have begun preliminary work on the account, with the aim of having a new advertising campaign launched in early 2005. Billings were undisclosed.

Samsung is a $36.4 billion company that develops semiconductors, telecommunications, digital media and digital convergence technologies.
