ScheinMedia buys Hudson Valley real estate magazines

Kingston, N.Y.—ScheinMedia, a new media company headed by Jonathan Schein, on Wednesday announced that it has acquired the monthly real estate magazines UpstateHouse and MetroHouse (40,000-circulation combined) from Luminary Publishing. Financial terms were not disclosed. Media investment bank W.B. Grimes & Co. represented Luminary Publishing in the transaction.

Most recently, Schein was president-CEO of Real Estate Media, which publishes four regional magazines and also owns and In 2005, Real Estate Media was merged into b-to-b media company ALM.

The two House magazines are distributed throughout New York’s Hudson Valley. Schein said he intends to grow the publications by expanding their presence through events, online initiatives and acquisitions.
