New York--Interactive agencies Scient Corp. and iXL Enterprises Inc., Atlanta, announced plans to merge in a stock swap. Financial terms were not disclosed. Under the deal, Scient and iXL will become subsidiaries of a new parent company based in New York and operate under the Scient name. Bob Howe, chairman-CEO of Scient, will become chairman of the new Scient; Bert Ellis, chairman of iXL, will become vice-chairman; and Chris Formant, CEO of iXL, will assume the role of CEO for the new organization. Scient, which has strategy and architect design capabilities, has clients that include AT&T Corp., Chase Manhattan Bank Corp. and Homestore.com. IXL, a global consulting and services company, has clients including DuPont, Delta Airlines and FedEx Corp.
