Small business online spending surges

Small businesses spent more than $25 billion on the Internet for products and services in 1999, up markedly from $2 billion in 1998, according to a new report by AMI-Partners, an e-business consultancy. New York-based AMI predicted that small-business online spending would jump to $118 billion by 2001. Additionally, the data revealed that some 600,000 small businesses were selling over the Internet in 1999, up from 400,000 in 1998. Information regarding the survey pool was not available.
