Tokyo—Sony Corp. announced that it plans to offer two tablet computers that will be available globally in the fall. The tablets, which are currently codenamed S1 and S2, will be equipped with the Android 3.0 system.
The S1 will have a 9.4-inch display screen; the S2 will have two 5.5-inch display screens. The two screens can be used together as a single large screen or separately to allow, for instance, email to be viewed on one screen and a touch keyboard to be used on the other screen.
Sony follows Apple Corp., Motorola Mobility, Samsung and others that have launched tablets in the past year.
