Southwest Airlines to close 3 reservation centers

Dallas--Southwest Airlines announced Tuesday that it plans to close three of its nine reservation centers. The company said the move reflects the rise of online booking and a steady decline in call volume over the last few years. Southwest said the 1,900 employees from the three reservations centers that will be closed--Dallas, Little Rock and Salt Lake City--will be allowed to relocate to one of the company’s six other reservation centers. The three centers are scheduled to close in February 2004.
