Study: Search marketing pros enjoy increasing salary levels

Wakefield, Mass.—The average salaries of search-engine marketing professionals increased this year despite the faltering economy, according to a new study by the Search Engine Marketing Professional Organization.

SEMPO’s second annual in-house salary survey—an online poll conducted during the second quarter of about 600 association members, and analyzed during the third quarter—found that annual salaries for search professionals increased 1.5% this year.

Employees with one to three years of relevant experience earned salaries ranging from $40,000 to $80,000, while the salaries of senior managers ranged from $70,000 to $120,000.

Vice presidents with responsibilities for large search engine marketing campaigns or a team of specialists earn from $160,000 to $250,000.
