Survey: More marketing execs responsible for e-commerce strategies

Redwood City, Calif.--About 28% of marketing executives are charged with overseeing their companies' electronic-commerce strategies, up from 15% in the first quarter, according to new results of a survey conducted by e-commerce consultant Zona Research. Sixty-four companies, business-to-business and business-to-consumer, were surveyed. The percentage of IT executives leading their companies' e-commerce dealings has shrunk from 59% to 46% in the same period. ``Enterprises are no longer asking what is Internet technology, but instead are asking how can the Internet provide the company with a competitive advantage,'' said Jack Staff, Zona's chief economist, in a statement.
