Dallas—Enterprise social and collaboration company Telligent Systems has acquired internal collaboration service Zimbra from VMware Inc. Telligent and Zimbra will be merged and use the Zimbra name. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. As an independent startup, Zimbra released its initial collaboration products in 2005. It was acquired by Yahoo in 2007, sold to VMware in 2010. In a statement, Telligent said that the new company has funding lined up from BDCA, Capital Venture Finance, Hall Financial Group, Intel Capital, NXT Capital Venture Finance and VMware.
