Thomson Financial shuts down two titles

New York--Thomson Financial Media, a subsidiary of Thomson Financial, announced late last week that Future Banker had ceased publication with the January/February issue because of the slumping economy. Some editorial content from FutureBanker will now run in sibling publication U.S. Banker.

At the same time, the company said that the March/April issue of Financial Services Marketing--originally launched in 1999 as a special report in corporate sibling American Banker--will be the last. It will re-launch later in the year as a bimonthly special report in American Banker.

The editorial staffs of both FutureBanker and Financial Services Marketing have been laid off, though the number of staffers let go could not be confirmed.

Thomson Financial is a subsidiary of The Thomson Corp., which markets business publications throughout the world. The holding company had been in play throughout 2001 but announced earlier this year that it was no longer considering a sale.
