Time spent watching video on social networking sites up 98%

New York—Time spent viewing video on social networking sites totaled 999.4 million minutes in October, up 98% over the same period last year, according to Nielsen.

The number of online video streams viewed in October was 349.5 million, up 45% over the year-earlier period, Nielsen reported.

Facebook was the No. 1 online social networking and blog destination for video in October, with 217.8 million total video streams viewed, according to the report.

MySpace was No. 2, with 85.2 million video views, and Stickam was third, with 26.3 million video streams viewed.
