New York—While total U.S. advertising spending is projected to grow a healthy 9.3% to $140.3 billion this year, b-to-b is the sole exception to the upward trend, according to TNS Media Intelligence/CMR.

"All TNS Media Intelligence/CMR measured media, with the exception of business-to-business magazines, are expected to show growth for 2004," said Steven Fredericks, president-CEO of TNS Media Intelligence/CMR. For other sectors, he sees "an extremely strong year" for ad spending.

The biggest increase is projected for Internet spending—15.8%.

The ad measurement firm presented its forecast Wednesday morning at AdWatch: Outlook 2004, an event co-hosted by TNS Media and BtoB sibling publication Advertising Age.
