In addition to running Foiled Cupcakes, Luangrath speaks frequently about using social media to drive business. Here are her three tips for companies that are brand-new to Twitter.
"1. Build relationships first.
This means to follow interesting people, talk to them about their interests, and form alliances. It does not mean to push your product or service onto them.
2. Don't be intimidated.
It took me a good week to figure out what the heck I was doing on the platform. Jump in and figure it out as you go along. Don't let fear hold you back.
3. Show your human side.
Share experiences, show failures, talk about successes, boost other people with whom you have relationships. Being real is a lot more refreshing and rare than the opposite, and it's easier to start conversations that way, too."
