Twitter expanding ads to mobile apps

San Francisco—Twitter will extend its ad program for mobile devices, making its Promoted Tweets and Promoted Accounts ad units appear to users of mobile apps for iPhones and Android devices. The new ads will appear near the top of users' Twitter timelines within the mobile apps, as with regular tweets, and will appear only once. Twitter previously had served ads to users of desktop and laptop computers, as well as the mobile version of its website.
