Twitter makes push into Australian market

San Francisco—Twitter Inc. has opened its Australian headquarters in Sydney as it seeks to boost its user base and adoption of its Promoted Products. Twitter's Australian headquarters will be managed by Karen Stocks, who was hired away from Google Inc. where she was managing director-mobile and social solutions for the company's Asia Pacific region. Danny Keens, formerly a producer for CBS-TV's “60 Minutes,” has joined Twitter Australia as director-media partnerships. While Twitter did not announce the number of users it has in Australia, eMarketer has reported that the country had the sixth fastest Twitter growth worldwide in the second quarter, up 28.5% from the year-earlier period.
