But Ultimate Software says that its data scientists have developed an algorithm that uses dozens of indicators that can better determine employee retention. OK, we believe you; but we think the ad would do a better job of seizing the attention of supervisors and human resources types if it ditched the headline—“Maybe a new tie means he's interviewing. Maybe it means it's Wednesday”—in favor of the opening line of copy that says: “Are your top people a flight risk?” The target audience would likely find that approach more compelling.
