USPS reports $1.3 billion loss in November

Washington, D.C.—The U.S. Postal Service reported a net loss of $1.3 billion in November, the second month of its 2012 fiscal year. Total mail volume was down 2.2% compared with the same month last year, and standard mail for the same period was off by 1%. A bright spot for USPS In November was mailings of magazines and other periodicals, which showed a volume increase of 2.7% for the month and revenue up 1.4%. Also, holiday activity resulted in a total shipping services volume increase of 32.7%.
