Vulcan, Charter to invest $75M in High Speed Access

Bellevue, Wash.--The venture capital rush into broadband continues. Vulcan Ventures Inc. and its majority-owned subsidiary, Charter Communications, are to invest $75 million in Denver-based High Speed Access Corp., which provides broadband Internet access to small and midsized businesses and consumers. Vulcan, owned by Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen, has made previous investments in High Speed. Vulcan has also invested in other telecom-related companies, such as Northpoint Communications Group Inc. and Allegiance Telecom Inc.
