‘Boston Globe’ launches Boston Globe Media

Boston—The publisher of The Boston Globe, Richard Gilman, on Wednesday announced the formation of Boston Globe Media in an effort to maximize the potential and market coverage of properties owned by the New York Times Co. in New England, which include The Boston Globe.

The group is charged with enhancing strategic initiatives and business development at the Worcester Telegram & Gazette, the Globe’s direct mail subsidiary Globe Specialty Products, the Globe’s joint venture with Metro Boston and the New York Times Co.’s investment in New England Sports Ventures.

Richard Daniels, currently president and general manager of the Globe, has been promoted to the new position of president, Boston Globe Media, while Mary Jacobus will oversee the day-to-day operation at The Boston Globe. She and Gilman will work together to build cross-marketing opportunities among all the Times Co. properties in New England, which also include
