‘New York Times’ begins offering front-page advertisements

New York—Struggling, like most newspapers, with declining ad revenue, The New York Times announced Monday that it has begun offering ad placements on its front page. An ad for CBS appears below the fold on the front page of Monday’s issue of the Times.

“In 2006 we began testing ads on some section fronts and received a very positive response from the advertising community,” Denise Warren, senior VP-chief advertising officer for the New York Times Media Group, said in a statement.
