New York Times Co. launches mobile site

New York—The New York Times Co. has launched a mobile Web site ( that provides access to news and information from via mobile devices such as Web-enabled phones and PDAs. Readers can scan headlines on the section fronts or read complete articles from the newspaper’s Web site. The mobile site, which is advertiser-supported, can be activated for free. Microsoft Windows Mobile has signed on as the debut advertiser. All pages on the mobile site (with the exception of the Log-in page) will have a banner ad at the top and sponsored article tools. The site is planning to unveil additional article tools, each of which will be accompanied by a new sponsor.
