‘New York Times’ to publish Bono column; ‘Wall Street Journal’ partners with MySpace

New York—Facing declining advertising revenue, newspapers across the country are experimenting with new ways to attract readers. Cases in point: The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal both unveiled unusual partnerships this week.

The Times announced that Bono, lead singer of the rock group U2 and anti-poverty activist, will write an occasional op-ed column beginning Sunday. The newspaper said Bono “will cover a broad range of subjects” in his column.

The Journal is partnering with social network MySpace to hold a contest that will send the winning MySpace user as a correspondent to the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2009 in Davos-Klosters, Switzerland.
