Ziff Davis’ director of circulation leaves the company

New York—Ziff Davis Media confirmed Friday that Charles Mast, senior VP-circulation, left the company last week. Mast joined the company in 1983.

According to Ziff Davis’ Web site, the company won more than 25 circulation excellence and direct marketing awards under Mast during the last four years.

On his watch, Ziff Davis also found itself embroiled in a dispute last year with the Audit Bureau of Circulations over paid circulation classifications at its flagship PC Magazine. Synapse Group, a third-party circulation agent hired by Ziff Davis, was censured by the ABC.

A Ziff Davis spokesman said the controversy had nothing to do with Mast’s departure.

"After 20-plus years of working there," Mast said, "I decided it was time to take a look at doing something different."
