Just What You Wanted: Donald Trump in 360 Degrees

Did you miss Donald Trump's victory speech last night after he won the New York Republican primary? Do you regret not being there in person? Do you wish there were some way for you to belatedly take it all in -- all 360 degrees of its splendor?

Well, you're in luck! The official Donald J. Trump for President channel on YouTube just uploaded a two-and-a-half minute video (below) titled "Donald J. Trump 360 Video New York Primary Victory Speech 2016." The video's description includes this helpful one-line instruction: "Watch this 360 video of Donald Trump's victory speech in New York on April 19th, 2016." Hmmm, at first glance it's just Donald Trump in a room talking at a podium, but he's really hard to see because of all the lens distortion and because of the vantage point of the camera, which foregrounds a bunch of people standing around, mostly motionless, listening to the speech, as well as a roped-off herd of journalists, who are also mostly motionless. Trump goes on for a bit about how unfair the GOP delegate system is, but not much else happens -- no fist fights, no shoving, nothing.

What's the point? Should we be putting on some sort of special gold-plated Trumpian headset to watch this?

Look, frankly, if you have to ask that, that's pathetic, because you should know already, because 360 and VR are so hot right now. The Trump campaign's innovative use of immersive 360-degree technology to bring Mr. Trump's victory speech thrillingly to life just shows what kind of a businessman he is. A smart businessman, a brilliant businessman, a businessman who has all the best technology, all the latest technology, and he's not afraid to use that technology.

Look, 360 is gonna be huge, but right now the Chinese are killing us on 360. You should have been there for Donald Trump's speech, you really should have, it's pathetic that you weren't, but this here is the next best thing, and you should be grateful for it.

You really should be.
