Google has unveiled a lavish Chrome Experiment for The Hobbit, created by Swedish agency North Kingdom. Journey Through Middle-Earth, whose development was first announced in May, has been completed in time to promote The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, the second part in Peter Jackson's The Hobbit trilogy, set to be released in the U.S. on Dec. 13. The site lets users explore the Tolkien's Middle Earth through HTML5 on computers, smartphones and tablets. Users first click on a map of Middle Earth to choose where to explore, then are taken into individual areas where they can use their mouse to interact with the elements. As well as having a look around, there are little games you can play - like troll dodging - to make it even more interactive.
