Chevrolet Global Chief Marketing Officer Tim Mahoney is retiring on March 1, General Motors has confirmed. The company has not announced a replacement.
"We thank Tim for his many contributions to strengthening the position of the Chevrolet brand around the world and for the expertise that he has brought to our marketing operations," Alan Batey, president of GM North America and head of global Chevrolet said in a statement.
Mahoney took the job in early 2013 after serving as chief product and marketing officer at Volkswagen of America since 2011. He previously held marketing jobs at Subaru of America and Porsche Cars North America.
At Chevy he steered the global "Find New Roads" marketing platform that began shortly before he took over as CMO. Chevrolet's agency is Commonwealth/McCann.
His exit comes as GM slashes costs, including includes cutting headcount by 15 percent.
