Canning Joins 72andSunny, BBH's Axe Creatives Move to Australia and More
72andSunny has hired Michael Canning to join its creative leadership team as group director. Canning joins the agency after four years as managing partner, executive creative director at Leo Burnett New York. Originally from Australia, he began his career at Lowe Hunt Sydney where his work for Unilever "Lynx Jet" won the Grand Prix for media at the Cannes Lions festival in 2006. He worked for Leo Burnett's Sydney office before relocating to the USA in 2011 as a founding member of Leo Burnett New York. He has most recently led the creation of a New York Off-Broadway play for the Village Voice, titled "8 Million Protagonists."
Whybin/TBWA has named Gary McCreadie and Wesley Hawes as executive creative directors for the agency's Sydney office. They were previously creative directors and partners at BBH London, and global creative directors on Axe/Lynx. Their work for Axe includes the "Apollo" integrated campaign, a gold winner at the Cannes Lions festival, as well as the "Soulmates" film. Other work includes the "We Own the Weekend" campaign for the Guardian and work for Tango and Barclaycard. The duo are returning to Whybin/TBWA, where they worked earlier in their career.
Mat Jerrett has joined New York creative agency Translation as creative director. Jerrett was previously at Anomaly, where he served as lead creative director on the agency's Converse account. Prior to that he was a creative director at Sid Lee, overseeing its work for Adidas Men's Training. He has also worked as a senior art director on Nike and Levi's at Wieden & Kennedy, and earlier in his career worked in film in the U.K. and Australia. At Translation, he will lead creative initiatives for Champs Sports and McDonald's, starting with Champs' back-to-school campaign entitled "Game Loves an Audience."
Sid Lee Toronto has promoted Tom Koukodimos and Jeffrey DaSilva to executive creative directors,sharing creative leadership of the office. Both have served as creative directors since joining Sid Lee in 2012 and 2013 respectively and will replace Sid Lee Toronto's outgoing ECD, Dave Roberts, who is returning to Sid Lee Montreal to undertake a new global assignment. Before joining Sid Lee, Koukodimons was creative director at Cossette working on McDonald's, while DaSilva joined Sid Lee from Mullen in Boston, where he worked as VP creative director on Google.
London agency HeyHuman has appointed Shnoosee Bailey to the role of creative director. Bailey was previously executive creative director at Saatchi & Saatchi X and prior to that creative director at Publicis Dialog. Her previous experience also includes stints at 141 London, Chemistry and Leo Burnett, Australia. HeyHuman, which launched in April of this year, specializes in social, mobile, branded content, experiential and shopper work, and counts Sony Mobile, Superdrug, Diageo, Suntory, Unilever, Mars, Morrisons, and Danone among its clients.
Jordy Huisman has joined design agency Dragon Rouge's recently launched Singapore office as creative director for Southeast Asia. Originally from the Netherlands, he began his career at Design Bridge Amsterdam before moving to London to run Interbrand's consumer design practice for two years before re-joining Design Bridge as creative director in Singapore. He has worked with clients such as Unilever, Heineken, AkzoNobel, Heinz, Mondelez and LVMH.
