McCann's Dahlqvist Moves to Grey, Cerdeiro Joins Conill and More
Andreas Dahlqvist is joining Grey as chief creative officer of the agency's New York office. Dahlqvist, who will oversee the 500-plus Grey New York creative department, most recently served as president of the McCann Creative Leadership Council and chief creative officer at Commonwealth/McCann, the global business unit built for General Motors. Dahlqvist, who was a founder and executive creative director of DDB Stockholm, joined McCann New York in 2011 as vice chairman, ECD and later beaome deputy chief creative officer for global brands. His work, which has won awards such as the Titanium Lion and Grand Prix at the Cannes Lions festival, has included campaigns for McDonald's, General Mills, Diesel Jeans, Coca-Cola, Chevrolet, The Swedish Armed Forces, Skoda, Panasonic and Volkswagen.
Three creatives are moving to the Miami office of Conill, Saatchi & Saatchi's U.S. Hispanic agency, from U.S. Hispanic shop LatinWorks. Hernan Cerdeiro is the new executive creative director, reporting to Javier Campopiano, who joined Conill in August as chief creative officer. Cerdeiro was previously VP-creative director at LatinWorks. Juan Cruz Vassallo and Hernan Pettinaroli, both associate creative directors at LatinWorks, are joining Conill in the same role.
In another move by a top creative in the U.S. Hispanic market, Juan Pablo Oubina will become executive creative director at Deutsch LA's Hispanic marketing practice DLAtino. He held the same title at independent Los Angeles-based Hispanic agency Grupo Gallegos.
And Joaquin Lira has joined M8, the U.S. Hispanic and Latin American digital agency previously called Media8, as chief creative officer. Lira was working through Mobly, a freelance company he set up after leaving Hispanic independent shop Lopez Negrete Communications, where he was digital creative director, late last year.
Grey London has promoted chief creative oficer Nils Leonard to chairman. Leonard joined Grey London in 2007 and became ECD in 2009. He has overseen the most creatively rich years in the agency's history; Grey was one of D&AD's most awarded agencies in 2014. Leonard's career also includes running a design consultancy for fashion and music clients, and stints at creative agencies including Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO and Rainey Kelly Campbell Roalfe/Y&R.
Y&R has hired Ronny Northrop as ECD, Y&R California. Based in San Francisco, he reports to chief creative officer Mimi Cook. Northrop started his career as a copywriter at CP&B, then was a copywriter and creative director at Goodby Silverstein & Partners. Most recently, he freelanced at agencies and organizations including Alex Bogusky's Common, Al Gore's Climate Reality Project, Butler, Shine, Stern & Partners and 72andSunny.
New York and South Carolina agency Erwin Penland has added three creatives to its New York team. Steve Rodriguez joins as SVP/creative services director. He was previously director of creative services and talent at Saatchi & Saatchi NY. Rodriguez has also worked at BBH NY and Anomaly, on clients including Procter & Gamble, General Mills, Vaseline and Johnnie Walker. Kristofer Delaney and Danny McHatton join as VP/creative directors, working primarily on the Denny's and Verizon accounts. Delaney was most recently a creative director at Digitas New York while McHatton has previously worked at Publicis Kaplan Thaler and McGarryBowen.
