AKQA has promoted Pierre Lipton to executive creative director, leading the creative department in its San Francisco office. Alongside Brendan Dibona, based in AKQA's Washington D.C. office, he will be one of two ECDs across the U.S. Both Lipton and Dibona report to chief creative officer Rei Inamoto who oversees creative output for the U.S. and Asian markets. Lipton joined AKQA in July 2010, from BBDO NY, and has worked as the creative lead on clients including Xbox and YouTube. His work on Xbox included overseeing Halo Reach, which earned several pencils at the One Show Interactive awards. Before BBDO NY, Lipton was an associate creative director at TBWA/Chiat/Day. He started his career as a copywriter at DeVito/ Verdi followed by stints at Kirshenbaum Bond and Fallon.

Director Tom Routson is returning to Tool after a one-year stint at Moxie. Routson has directed campaigns for Budweiser, Foster Farms chickens, and the Aflac duck, winning awards at Cannes, Clio, and AICP shows, and his work is included in the permanent collection of New York's Museum of Modern Art. Prior to directing Routson worked on the agency side of the business as a creative director at Goodby Silverstein and Partners.

Editor Patrick Griffin is joining jumP LA. Griffin joins the studio from Arcade Edit, and also spent time at Harley's House and with current jumP LA EP Betsy Beale at Lost Planet. Recent work includes a KIA campaign with Blake Griffin, shot by director Paul Hunter. He has also worked with directors Matt Aselton, David Shane, Errol Morris and Brian Buckley, with Roger Corman from 1999 to 2000, and has collaborated with agencies such as GS&P, Saatchi & Saatchi, and Team Mazda.

The artists at production company and design studio Brand New School are to be represented as directors on the U.S. East Coast by Jamie Scalera, Sasha Stern and Katrin Aul at Miss Smith. Brand New School is represented on the U.S. West Coast by Lisa Houck of Salon Reps, and in the U.S. Midwest by Lynn Reif Mutchler of Point Representation.
