Deutsch New York has hired Joe Calabrese as executive vice president, director of content production. His most recent role was as director of brand production at JWT New York, where he oversaw campaigns for clients including Rolex, JetBlue, Smirnoff and Macy's and he has also worked at BBH NY and TBWA/Chiat/Day in San Francisco. In his new role at Deutsch, he will be charged with leading and growing the Agency's content production department. Joe replaces Eve Kornblum who was evp, director of broadcast production.

Big Spaceship, the Brooklyn creative agency, has made several new hires and promotions including appointing Matthew Lipson (left) into the new position of vice president of client strategy & engagement. He rejoins the agency after serving as managing director and director of creative strategy from 2004-2007, and will report to founder & CEO Michael Lebowitz. Lipson most recently was vice president of client engagement for The Visionaire Group in Los Angeles. Previously, he held positions at Exopolis, 20th Century Fox and DNA Studio.

Other new hires include Becca Beacham as client engagement manager. Beacham rejoins Big Spaceship after spending a year as a travel blogger and will report to S. Jason Prohaska (left) who has been promoted to the expanded role of general manager and managing director. The agency has also promoted Ranae Heuer to vice president of client services from her previous role as vice president of production.

Tool has signed Evan Silver as a commercials director. He previously worked in on-air promos at MTV, where he was responsible for the US launch video for controversial teen show Skins. He also wrote and directed a campaign promoting the network's See You Sunday block and filmed more than 30 stories of inspiring Latinos across the US for tr3s. Silver has also previously worked at the Sundance Channel and as an art director at creative shops.

Director Saam Farahmand has joined Furlined, signing with FMV for North American representation. Farahmand specializes in music videos, directing videos for the likes of Klaxons, The XX, These New Puritans, Simian Mobile Disco, Lightspeed Champion, and Cheryl Cole. Other work includes a fashion film for Alexander McQueen, while Farahmand also continues to shoot and develop an ongoing installation titled Video Portraits for his London gallery Boyschool.

1stAveMachine has appointed Michael Moroney as chief creative technologist. His previous experience includes work with clients including Samsung and Virgin on developing interactive services and he also helped develop digital entertainment service Artists Without A Label (AWAL). He has held positions as managing director of Polychrome LA and senior vice president of engagement media at TBA Global.
