CAA, BETC Euro RSCG Win Big at 91st Annual Art Directors Club Awards

Kicking off awards season is the Art Directors Club, which announced today the winners of its 91st annual awards.

Creative Artists Agency, Los Angeles had a great run, picking up four Golds and two Silvers for the stop-motion music video for Chipotle, "Back to the Start." The work landed four Golds and two Silvers in advertising, interactive and motion categories, and also garnered a Gold in Sound Design for New York's Duotone Audio Group.

The two-minute video, directed by Johnny Kelly of Nexus, was the food chain's first ever television spot and takes viewers through a farmer's journey, as he moves from industrialized large-scale farming methods to sustainable practices.

Canal+'s 'The Bear' commercial, created out of BETC Euro RSCG, was also a big winner, winning the agency three Golds and one Silver, and MJZ, the production company, one Silver. The spot was directed by Matthijs van Heijningen.

According to the ADC, there were no Black Cube Best of Show winners this year. Other agencies that won Golds in the advertising category were BBH New York and Google Creative Lab, for Google's 'The Web is What You Make of It' (including the tearjerking 'Dear Sophie,') global advertising campaign, and Jung von Matt AG Hamburg, for 'Invisible Drive' which used LED lights and a camera to make a Mercedez-Benz invisible, to show its low impact on the environment.

In the interactive category, DDB Paris was a Gold Cube winner for social game, "Mini Maps," as was Mirada Los Angeles' 'Think,' for IBM, a Lincoln Center exhibit that combined data viz and art as part of the company's centennial celebrations. MUH-TAY-ZIK | HOF-FER of San Francisco also earned a Gold for the interactive Web site "Slavery Footprint."

Goodby and KBS+P won in the Integrated category for Sprint's "All Together Now," and BMW's "ActiveE Social Experiment," respectively.

Other notable winners were the School of Visual Arts, which took home nine ADC cubes, including a gold for SVA Portfolio Screening 2011, and the New York Times Magazine, which landed six Cubes, with two Golds in design and photography, for the Air France Flight 447 cover as well as the "One Earth As It is in Heaven" photography work.

The full list of the winners, including all Gold, Silver, Bronze and Merit Winners, which represent 24 countries this year, will be posted shortly at the ADC Awards site.

The ADC will present the awards during its annual Gala on May 8, 2012 at Espace.
