Advertising celebrity and MDC Partners' star employee Alex Bogusky has resigned from the holding company to pursue efforts outside the ad world.
"We have enjoyed a long and tremendously productive partnership over the past ten years and have the utmost respect and admiration for Alex," MDC said in a statement. "We're confident that many important causes will benefit from his passion and brilliance, and wish him the very best in all of his future endeavors." Bogusky couldn't immediately be reached for comment.
Bogusky began his career as a creative in the '80s, and is the founding partner of Crispin Porter + Bogusky, which under his direction became one of the country's most talked-about -- at times lauded and hated in equal measure -- shops. CPB was bought by MDC nearly 10 years ago, and since that time Mr. Bogusky has risen through the ranks of the holding company and become one of ad land's most famous personalities. His departure from MDC is sure to dampen interest from a generation of talent that has admired him for audacious work for marketers like BMW Mini and Burger King.
