In an e-mail interview with Creativity, creative director Bob Kerstetter confirms that he will leave Black Rocket, the San Francisco agency he co-founded with CD Steve Stone, by midsummer. He says he's written a dozen Yahoo spots that he will direct for the agency, and then he's off. After that, he plans to launch a "one-stop creative and directorial venture," a seemingly perfect idea for an accomplished copywriter/CD who, like Kerstetter, has also won a DGA Award.
Kerstetter admits he's also nursing a few screenplays that he'd like to direct, although he won't be leaving the ad world anytime soon. "I am a realist," he says. "We'll see. I still love making ads and plan on doing it till they drag my large, lily-white ass out of the edit room."
