The Martin Agency Breaks First Quiznos Campaign

Who knew that Quiznos would move its account from Cliff Freeman to the Martin Agency and the creative would actually get weirder? Weirder than cavemen, weirder than blow darts, and, yes, even weirder than a wolf suckling a man. The Martin Agency's first outing for the sub chain is definitely clutter-busting. It features two animated creatures that are half mouse and half mouth, singing off-key about the virtues of Quiznos' toasted subs.

The creatures, dubbed "Spongmonkeys" by their creator, are the brainchild of British animator Joel Veitch. Veitch's site,, won a Webby Award last year in the "Weird" category -- appropriately enough -- and is perhaps best known for an animation of punk kittens, which swept the web in 2002.

In the new Quiznos campaign, the Spongmonkey troubadours -- for which Veitch provides the voice -- detail why they love Quiznos so much, just as they praised the moon in their original web appearance, which you can watch here. If Quiznos is looking to ride a viral wave, they at least seem to be shopping in the right place.
