Therapy Undergoes Change

By Published on .

Therapy Films, the London-based production company founded in 1999 by director Malcolm Venville and his longtime producer, the late Daniel Todd, is regrouping. Director Mark Denton has left to set up his own shop, while Guy Manwaring has departed with producer Alice Grant to explore other options.

According to Therapy managing director Barry Hughes, the decision to part ways happened at the end of last year, when the shop's lease was up for renewal. At that time, Hughes says it became clear that Venville, Denton and Manwaring had different goals for the next ten years, so they decided that the best way to move forward was to form separate companies.

Therapy Films lives on, with Venville and Hughes as partners. Contrary to previous reports, Hughes says plans for Therapy's remaining directors are still in discussion but he hopes for those to be finalized by Monday. "We have had a wonderful few years, formulating the Therapy brand worldwide," says Hughes. "I am very excited about the prospects of continuing this."
