unit9 adds apps division

Interactive production company Unit9 is launching a gaming and app development studio, unit9.apps.

The London-based agency says it aims to solve the question of whether ad agencies select a gaming studio or production company as a partner when asked to add games and apps to a brand's proposition. It will act as both, building on its 15 years experience in digital production.

Unit9.apps will develop and publish games and creative applications across a range of platforms including mobile, tablets, consoles and the web. It will develop its own Intellectual Property, publish and promote independent apps through its network and create bespoke apps for advertising agencies and brands.

Its latest game for iPad and iPhone is Nano Panda, in which players are asked to 'solve brain-bending particle physics puzzles' using a tiny panda. Previous apps by unit9 include 3D Photo and Air Tennis.
