Foot Locker's Wikipedia For Shoes

Published on .

All week, Creativity is counting down the best work of 2011.

At number three in the interactive category is this effort out of SapientNitro that launched in May. "Sneakerpedia" acts as a Wikipedia for all sneakerheads out there, with in-depth information on all types of shoes, including model numbers, launch dates and what type of material they are made of .

In an interesting marketing strategy, there is no retail component or a way to buy shoes online. Instead, Foot Locker's branding is minimal and quite restrained, a great way to keep shoe fans engaged with the store chain without feeling like they are being sold to. Fans can also write and upload their own personal "sneaker stories."
