Flipboard Gets Oprah
Oprah is getting equal billing to Facebook and Twitter in the latest update to Flipboard's iPad app.
The app, which allows users to create personalized magazines from content shared on Facebook and Twitter, lets users add media channels like The Economist, Rolling Stone and others.
But Oprah Winfrey's OWN Network is now shipping pre-loaded on the app, just like Facebook and Twitter, meaning that if you don't want Oprah, you'll have to opt-out.
Its Flipboard's biggest media partnership to date, the product of more than a few meetings over at Hearst, which publishes O: The Oprah Magazine as part of a joint venture. Here's the release:
Palo Alto, Calif. - Los Angeles – Launching today, Flipboard, OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network and Oprah.com present the official "Oprah" section on Flipboard, the world's first social magazine exclusively available on Apple's iPad.
