Actress Charlotte Rae passed away on Sunday at the age of 92. Best known for her lively role as Mrs. Garrett on the sitcom "Diff'rent Strokes" and its spinoff "The Facts of Life," Rae wore many other acting hats as well, including as a commercial actress. Here's a look back at some of those ads.
Oil heat
Rae plays a cheeky housewife enjoying a hot shower she says wouldn't be possible without her home's oil heat: "Only oil heat can give me so much, so fast, and it's so dependable!" Brought to you by the National Oil Fuel Institute, of course.
Charmin
In this spot, Rae is Ms. Flagg, a floor supervisor at the Charmin plant charged with ensuring employees don't squeeze the "squeezably soft" Charmin on company time—until she herself is caught in the act.
Mr. Muscle
For the oven cleaning product, Rae complains that learning how to cook to bag a husband has only gotten her "25 years with my head in a dirty oven." Mr. Muscle, on the other hand, is "a good man to wake up to."
Vicks Cough Drops
Rae teams up with radio DJ William B. Williams to pontificate about the cool sensation of Victors cough drops (as they were called): "What a nice thing for a cough drop to do!"
