Moving on: Where the FAST crew has landed

Five years later, key players behind the Future of Advertising Stakeholders Summit have gone in separate and sometimes surprising directions. Here's where some are now:

* Denis Beausejour, former VP-marketing, left Procter & Gamble Co. in April 2000 for Trinity Evangelical Divinity School outside Chicago and earned an M.A. in religion. He then started Dr. Henry Cloud Answers for Life in Cincinnati, which encourages spiritual development to solve America's corporate, personal and social problems.

* Pete Blackshaw, the former interactive brand manager who organized FAST, lifting its acronym from a P&G internship program, founded consumer-feedback portal in 1999. He's now co-chairman and chief marketing officer of the company, which merged in 2001 with Intelliseek.

* Rich LeFurgy, former chair of FAST and the Internet Advertising Bureau, remains general partner of venture-capital firm WaldenVC. He recently founded Archer Advisers, a consulting firm specializing in helping companies set up industry advisory boards not unlike FAST.

* Michael Zeisser, McKinsey & Co. consultant then and now, whose FAST keynote predicted interactive advertising would either be "a big deal or no big deal," stands by both possibilities. "It's much more different from TV than people five years ago thought," he said. "We still have a bunch of recalcitrants who say when we have broadband it will be like TV. I don't think that's true."
