U.S. Hispanic Agencies: Enter Wave Festival For Latin America By April 1

Latino Agencies In U.S. Participate For First Time; Luis Miguel Messianu, Sergio Alcocer, Pablo Buffagni and Aldo Quevedo Are Judges

The call for entries is open for the Wave Festival, a leading ad festival for Latin America that includes the U.S. Hispanic market and Puerto Rico for the first time this year.

Entries are due by April 1, 2013 for the Wave.

Advertising Age is partnering with the Wave to help introduce the awards, held April 15-17 in Rio de Janeiro, to Hispanic agencies in the U.S. The regional Wave Festival is organized by Meio & Mensagem, Brazil's top advertising and marketing publication and events organizer, and Ad Age's longtime editorial partner in Brazil.

All judging is done onsite during the festival, by 70 judges from 12 countries. The U.S. will be represented at the Wave next month by Luis Miguel Messianu, president and chief creative officer of Miami-based Alma, who will chair the direct category jury. The other U.S. Hispanic judges on three other juries are Sergio Alcocer, president-chief creative officer of LatinWorks in Austin, Texas; Pablo Buffagni, chief creative officer at Los Angeles-based Grupo Gallegos; and Aldo Quevedo, who joined Richards/Lerma as principal and creative director in December and takes over in April as chairman of the Association of Hispanic Advertising Agencies (AHAA).

Fernanda "Fefa" Romano, who holds a dual role at Naked Communications as a creative partner at Naked in New York as well as partner and chief creative officer at the Naked Brasil shop set up in Sao Paulo last year, is chairing the cyber jury.

The Wave gives awards in nine different categories, including film, press/outdoor, cyber, radio, promo, direct, design, PR and the Blue Wave award for the most-innovative ideas.

Separately, for the U.S. market only, Circulo Creativo's deadline for entering its second annual U.S.H. Idea awards is also April 1. U.S.H. Idea winners will be announced on April 30 in Miami at the end of AHAA's annual conference.
