NEW YORK (AdAge.com) -- Meredith Corp. may have shut down Child magazine yesterday, but it apparently didn't hold anything against its publisher, Wendi Sanders Berger: Today the company named Ms. Berger the publisher of Fitness.
She succeeds Lauren Buerger, the title's publisher since August 2005; the company said she had recently resigned.
"I'm excited at the opportunity to lead the team at Fitness, a magazine that under the editorial leadership and vision of Denise Brodey has achieved an incredible revitalization," Ms. Berger said in a statement Wednesday morning.
The right background
Tom Harty, exec VP, Meredith Publishing Group, said Ms. Berger has the right background to assume the helm at Fitness. "Her unique knowledge across a diverse range of advertising categories, extensive experience in the health and beauty field, and ability to lead a major magazine brand will be an enormous asset to the Fitness team."
Ms. Berger has held posts at Time Inc.'s InStyle, Conde Nast Publications' Vanity Fair and elsewhere.
