NEW YORK (AdAge.com) -- With only a few days left in Joe Uva's lame-duck presidency of OMD Worldwide, shifts are already taking place.
Daryl Simm, CEO of Omnicom Media Group -- and the man absorbing Mr. Uva's duties as president-CEO for the time being -- said today Steve Grubbs is being moved out of his spot as PHD's CEO-North America to become CEO of Fuse Sports and Entertainment Group. Matt Seiler, who had previously held the title president, PHD U.S., will now be president-CEO, PHD North America.
Changing of the guard
The shuffle represents a changing of the guard. Mr. Grubbs will take over a division of OMD that has previously not been allowed beyond the media group's shadow. Now, by aligning Optimum Entertainment, Optimum Sports, Full-Circle Entertainment and Highway Entertainment under the Fuse umbrella, it would seem OMD is giving the brand a chance to stand on its own.
"As its name suggests, Fuse allows us to offer clients fully integrated sports and entertainment solutions that encompass everything from ideation to final distribution," Mr. Simm said in a statement.
For Mr. Seiler, he now stands at the helm of one portion of a media agency that has no worldwide CEO since co-founder David Pattison stepped down from the position late last year. Morag Blazey remains Mr. Seiler's counterpart in the U.K.
Mr. Seiler has already tweaked the PHD organization to include client services, similar to the way full-service agencies have account managers to oversee work across disciplines.
Mr. Uva is leaving to become CEO of Univision.
